I'm a new version of Watexy with the possibility to edit equations and fixes the bug with < and > not working.

The testing-robot is:
watexy-test@appspot.com

It only works in wave.google.com and not in wavesandbox.com for some reason.

I hope you'll take the time to give it a try and some feedback to improve it.

    Known bugs/misbehaviours:
    - Can't seem to adjust the width of the gadget dynamically, hence only full width equations are made
    - Editing the equations isn't included in the history

    Please give feedback :-) .

First off, thanks for the excellent work so far =)

One wave-crashing bug that I found: If I have an equation that has been rendered as an image, and I then try to manually delete it with the cursor, as I would any text, Wave (on occasion) crashes on me.

Not sure if this is due to your code, or Wave's backend. Since it seems to happen sporadically, I'd be inclined to say it's Wave's problem not yours =).

General, perhaps obvious feature request, is it possible to control whether equations are listed inline or on a separate line? If so, it would be wonderful to implement this, as you could then write in Wave as you would in Latex and have it compile very similarly. Perhaps even compiling inline if is used and on a new line if ! $$ is used? Obviously this isn't exactly in line with latex syntax, but it's close enough to be desirable.

Thanks, Scott. I'll try to investigate the bug, but as you mention I'm not sure if it's my fault :-) . Well, that's the plan, but right now I have the problem that because I'm using a gadget to implement the editing facilities, it doesn't possible to make the gadget a dynamic width. But I'm working on it. Thanks for your comments.

One other behavior that seemed strange. If I create a multi-line equation, such as a table, the image seems to be cutoff when I first reopen that wave, until I click the image and hit cancel on the editing dialog. After this, the whole image is displayed in the wave.

Perhaps another oddity of Wave's handling of images? =)

  5. Mikkel Meyer Andersen Says:

Yes, it is indeed strange. I use the adjustHeight-method which should do the job, but as you've notice it actually doesn't do it very good :-) . But I'll check the code an extra time to ensure that I call the method enough times.

    Great Work! :)
    Thanks a lot!

Very good work. I'm still using your previous robot because I can write inline latex symbols, equations and whatnot. If you manage to do that with this robot, you will have made a huge step in latex implementation for Google Wave. Thanx for putting all this work.

Thanks a lot, yannis! Now I've made both equation types avaiable in Watexy. Please refer to http://www.scienco.org/2009/watexy-version-14-%E2%80%93-with-both-inline-and-display-math-mode/ for details.

Can somebody help me? I can't figure out how to edit equations? When editing I click the latex picture of my equation and nothing happens. Please email at alanjz@gmail.com thx

For me it works sometimes, but not always. At the moment I have a wave with a friend. Only his boxes have watexy, so only his equations are displayed. I have no idea how to get my boxes in the same wave to have watexy included.
    Thanks for help.

Please try again. I've just tuned the server a little.

  12. jon Says:

Thanks. I also figured that I had to give full access (not just read access) to watexy. Is that right?

  13. Mikkel Meyer Andersen Says:

Yes, because it performs changes to the waves.
